Feeding Self With Spoon

Getting it ready
Yeah he loaded it and it made it to his mouth!
"Oh yeah, this is fun!"
Little Mind at Work

Little mind thought "Forget this. Who needs a spoon?"

Michael has been doing really well with a spoon with my help so I decided he needed to start doing it all by himself. I have created a monster who no longer wants my help at all. This could be a good and bad thing at the same time. He is a very independent kid and when he knows he can do something he wants to do it. It really frustrates him too if he can't get it perfect. Michael tells me all the time that MB reminds him of me. Nah.

15 Months

I took Michael to his 15 month check up today. I have no pictures because he was everywhere and I didn't even think to get the camera out. He is so curious that I can't take my eyes off of him for a second. We were the first appointment so everyone there was a little slow in getting started. Michael didn't care. He wanted to chat everyone up and show everyone ALL OF THE LIGHTS! Since spending a week at my aunt's he has become OBSESSED with lights. Rocky could understand the word 'light' when he would say it and was very impressed. Rocky is our nurse practitioner.

So Michael also gained 1 whole pound in 2 weeks after eating all of Aunt Jackie's yummy food. He is now 22.6 pounds and almost to the 50th percentile for weight. Which is good. He is 31 inches and in between the 75-90th percentiles for height. Rocky was very impressed at all of the foods he eats which is good. She said she loves the fact that he gets so much sleep. She said she wished all parents gave their kids enough sleep. I really don't feel I have anything to do with it, he wants to sleep that much so I take full advantage. He really needs it.

Michael is on track and that's great. We go back at 18 months. I hope it goes as well.

I am not buying any more toys!

MB turned 15 months today. He is walking and going everywhere now! He is really so much fun. We went on a cruise last week and when I got home he seemed so much older. Before we left Michael started developing an obsession for putting lids on our water bottles. I was hoping he had forgotten about it while we were gone. He did not. All this child wants to do is pull out our millions of water bottles, beg us to unscrew the lid, and he just walks around putting the lid on and off. At any given time we have 10-15 bottles and lids scattered all over the house. It's so cute when he tries to carry 2 or 3 at a time. Who needs Fisher-Price? Not the Sparks'. Good thing Michael's parents have an obsession with water bottles too or he'd be out of luck.
I take him for his 15 month check up tomorrow so I'll post that info soon!

Coloring

I tried again to let Michael color on Wednesday. He did a little better this time and made lots of dots before trying to eat the crayons. I guess we'll keep practicing.

"I can't wait to be big like Daddy and his friends one day."

This was at the BBQ at Britt's parents house after the MS 150 Bike Ride.

At Sandy Beach in Pecan Plantation-Do you see sand? It should be called Pebble Beach.

"Hey boys, I wanna play too."

It's been forever since I've posted any pics so here are some from this month. Michael is growing like a weed. He turned 14 months last Friday. He is REALLY close to walking. He just needs a little more confidence. He is now saying "hi" "bye" "mama" "dada" and "mi (mine)". He is also beginning to point to things if we say "Where's the fan?" he'll point to it. I am working on body parts a lot now.

We are becoming more involved in our local MOMs Club which is keeping us busier these days. Today we went to Sonic and played in the sand pit. That's where the bottom pic was taken. Hopefully, I will post some more pics soon.

Thief!

This morning I was watching TV and got up to use the restroom. Michael surprisingly didn't follow me and stayed in the living room. He LOVES electronics. He always wants the remote, throws fits when I try to talk on the phone because he wants it, and loves to play with Michael's iPhone and iPad. He has several toy phones and remotes but those aren't good enough. He wants the real deal. So while I was out of the room he took the opportunity to swoop in and snatch the remote. When I came back he was playing. I sat down and looked for the remote. It was not in the same place. It took me 10 minutes to find the remote hidden here...

This kid keeps me on my toes I tell ya! He's a mess.

13 Months

Michael turned 13 months yesterday. I have been trying for several days to get a video of him walking with his push toy. Everytime I got the camera out he stopped and wanted to come play with it. I finally got a video today. He has his pacifier in his mouth because he's been gnawing on it constantly since he chipped it tooth. I guess it helps them feel better. Whatever works because I am surprised he hasn't complained more.

The second picture is from lunch today. We went to lunch with Rachel and Macie. I only took 1 picture and it was so dark it didn't come out so great. They were so happy to see each other. Michael talked up a storm to her. They were cute to watch together.

Michael is growing like a weed. I need to measure him but I think he's grown at least 1/2 an inch in the last month. His 12 month clothes are getting to short, but he doesn't fill out his 18 month clothes so they are baggy. He's kind of in the middle.

He is saying "hi" and "bye" now. He is starting to eat with a spoon but it's still quite messy. He walks pretty fast if you hold his hands. I am thinking in the next month he'll be trying it on his own. He loves to talk on the phone. He has 2 cell phones and he is always playing with those. If I am on the phone he gets mad because he wants to be talking to the person instead. So I have to give him either my cell or the house phone to satisfy him. It's so silly.

We are going to a picnic on Saturday. Hopefully I'll have more pictures to post then.
