Today MB ate cereal for the first time. It went a lot more smoothly than I expected. It's like he had been waiting for this for awhile. I thought he was ready but hadn't done it because the doctor said he wasn't eating enough formula. I called back yesterday and asked some questions and they gave me the green light to try solids. So now we are on a new journey. So fun!

5 Month Pictures

"This is my flirt face...hubba hubba."

Last weekend we went to my Aunt Jackie's house in Granbury. They live on a golf course with a lake on it and we had her friend take some pictures of us out there because it's so pretty. It was fun but you could tell he didn't like the grass so much. The longer we were out there the more irritated his face got. By the time I got inside I was itching all over. So I hope that is not a sign that he is going to inherit my bad allergies.

I can't believe he is already 5 months old now. He has been rolling from tummy to back for 2.5 months now but has been trying for a couple of weeks to get from back to tummy. He can get all the way over, but can't yet figure out how to get his chest up. He can sit up supported, but seems more interested in being on his back for the time being. I am very anxious for him to sit up by himself though. So of course we practice everyday. Pictures will be a lot easier to take when he can sit upright. Pumpkin Patch time is coming and I really want good, sitting up pictures. I hope he cooperates ;).

MB started cereal for the first time today and took to it really easily. So that will be a new adventure for us over the next couple of weeks while he tries new foods.

My Future's So Bright....

"I gotta wear shades."

The sunglasses I bought Michael finally came today. I figured he needed a pair since his dad and I are so sensitive to sunlight. When we go outside I notice MB can barely open his eyes because of the sun. So these sunglasses are for newborns to 2 year olds. I put them on and MB's head is sooooooooo small. After I finished laughing at out cute he looked, I had to rig them to stay on. He has such a little head. He seemed to like them though and looks oh so cool :).

Sticker Boy

Yesterday I was opening the mail on the counter and MB saw these stickers I got in the mail. He was mesmerized by them. So I decided to put them all over him. He spent quite awhile checking them out. He couldn't quite figure out why they were all over him though. It was funny to watch him trying to figure it out. He is very inquisitive. It is interesting to watch him learn. I hope that love of learning stays with him forever.

Michael and Macie's Lunchdate

"Let me give you some sugar Michael."

Today Michael and I met Rachel and Macie for lunch at La Madeline to celebrate that we didn't have to go back to school this year. We are both so lucky that we get to stay home with our beautiful babies. Macie and Michael were excited to see each other again. They were both talking up a storm to each other.
As you can see Michael was pooped from his lunchdate. Hopefully when Michael drops one of his 3 naps we'll be able to get together with them again more often. It was fun!

Reflecting

Being sick the last couple of days made me think of the severe morning sickness I had at the beginning of last school year. I remember how miserable I felt and now I wonder how in the world I managed to get up everyday and teach 5 year olds! It's amazing what you can do when you have to I guess.

With the start of this school year upon us I am so grateful I get to stay home and be with my little boy. I keep day dreaming about what he will be like on his first day of Kindergarten. I also wonder will I be the mom who cries while dropping off her "baby" on the first day of school. Will I be that mom that use to drive me bonkers as a teacher because I can't let my baby go? I don't think I'll be that extreme, but even now I tear up at the thought of him on his first day of school. Things look a little different from the other side.

MB is almost 5 months old and I can honestly say these have been a hard 5 months for me. I was on so many pain killers the first couple of months that I don't remember a lot of that time and it makes me sad. Things have definitely improved for me and I am really enjoying Michael. He is learning so many things each day and one glimpse of that smile of his just melts my heart. I look forward to what each new day brings for him.

Okay enough of the sappy stuff already!

I'm a tripod.

I took this picture of MB last night. He is starting to sit in the tripod position for longer and when he starts to sway to one side he is starting to be able to sit himself back up. I hope by the end of his 5th month he'll be sitting up all by himself without being in a tripod position. He will be 5 months on Friday. I'll post 5 month pictures sometime next weekend or early next week.

MB's Baptism Weekend

Siblings
Bekah, Me, Tracy, and Ryan

Rev. Joe Pool performed the ceremony. MB was so good during the baptism and wanted to see the pastor every second while he was talking.

Aunt B and Uncle Bert

"I got to meet some of my cousins this weekend. This is my cousin Rikki. She's pretty cool."
"As if getting baptized this weekend wasn't enough...I had to get my first haircut too! My Gigi cut it just like a professional."

This weekend we got Michael Britton baptized at First United Methodist Church in Rockwall. He was perfect during the ceremony and church. Of course, as a new mom I was a little nervous. He even fell asleep. Which if you know MB that is a shocker because he never sleeps in public. The ceremony was very nice and MB seemed to like the preacher. We had lots of family come in town to help celebrate the special occasion. It was a very special day in our lives.
